Celburn Woody Dodd, 82, died at 1:20 p.m. Friday at his home in Roseland. Born July 23, 1876, in Nelson County, Mr. Dodd was a son of the late William A. and Margaret Meeks Dodd.
He was a farmer before his retirement and was a member of the Beech Grove Christian Church.
Mr. Dodd was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Nellie Ramsey Dodd, in September, 1937.
Survivors include two sons, Martin Dodd, Waynesboro; and two daughters, Miss Charlotte Dodd and Mrs. Sue Coffey, both of Roseland; one sister, Miss Emma Dodd, Roseland; twelve grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Body will remain at the Etter Funeral Home and will be placed in the Beech Grove Christian Church at 1 p.m. Sunday where funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. by the Rev. J. D. Farries. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be William Dodd, David Dodd, Pat L. Coffey, Paul Coffey, Saylor Dodd and Luther McGann Jr.
Honorary bearers will be Herman Fields, Lester Fields, Alton Fields, Herbert Lowe, Jerry Falls, Worthy Thompson, Garth Fields, Pearson Duncan, Quentin Fields, Delmas Campbell, Maxie Campbell, Basil Campbell, Garnet Ewing, Malcolm Ewing, Thomas Quick, Maury Fitzgerald, Thomas Campbell, Hawthorne Falls, Carrol Anderson, David Grove, Mulford Campbell and Maphis Campbell.
