Charles H. Allen, 96, of Rabun Gap, formerly of Murrayville, died Monday, April 2, 2007 at Angel Hospital in Franklin, N.C. He was born May 22, 1910 in Wesson, Mississippi, to Effie Lexie Nicholson Allen and John William Allen.

He was preceded in death by his son, John his three sisters, Lola Wallace, Annie Laurie Weeks, and Birdie Fay Mower; and four brothers, Hermon, Walter, John, and Willie. Survivors include his three children, Jayne Allen Irminger and husband Jerry, Decatur, Mary Charles Allen Cleere, Rabun Gap, Dr. William D. Allen and wife Christina, St. Simons Island; three grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mr. Allen attended Oakhurst School, Decatur Boys' High, Emory College, and Reinhart College; he was a member of the Lithonia United Methodist Church. Following Pearl Harbor, Mr. Allen volunteered for military service and served in the Army Air Force with the 10th Air Force, 320th Depot Repair Unit in Calcutta, India.
