Ruby Mary Schroeder, age 93, of Lockhart, Texas passed away Monday, January 11, 2010 in Lockhart, Texas. She was born on January 31, 1916 to William Frederich and Annie Elizabeth (Dittmar) von Quintus in Creedmoor (Travis County), Texas.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Rudolph H. Schroeder, daughter, Dorothy Schnautz, great-granddaughter Marin Hyland, sisters; Rosa Anton and Ruby's twin-sister Pearl Rheinlander, and brothers; Walter Von Quintus, Alfred Von Quintus and Ernest Von Quintus.

The daughter of a German immigrant father and first-generation German immigrant mother, Ruby learned the art of gardening, canning and baking a variety of food products at a very young age on her parent's Travis County farm which later served her and her own family very well. There was absolutely nothing more important in Ruby's life than her family, whether it was preparing her family-famous "Granny's" German-style potato salad, attending various school events in support of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren or simply doing what "Grannys" do best by "bragging" to her many friends about the latest accomplishments of all her family members.
