ESTELLINE - Ralph Theodore Callesen, 81, Estelline, died Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2001, at an Estelline care center.

Funeral services will be Friday at 2 p.m. in the United Church of Christ in Estelline with the Rev. Joyce Anderson officiating.

Burial will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery, Estelline. Military graveside rites will be presented by the Estelline American Legion.

Visitation will be Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Geise Funeral Chapel in Estelline.

Ralph Callesen was born Dec. 1, 1919, in Badger, the son of Anton and Katrina (Damm) Callesen. He grew up on a farm west of Estelline. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He married Viola Deville Aug. 23, 1978, at Estelline. He farmed near Estelline until his retirement in 1992. Later that same year they moved into Estelline.

He was a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.

Survivors include his wife of Estelline; four children and their spouses, Randall and Vicki Deville of Estelline, Nikki and Bob Christensen of Jamestown, N.C., Dawn Ottoy of Miles City, Mont., Lizette and Dennis Aaneson of Sioux Falls, 10 grandchildren; and a sister and brother-in-law, Margery and Martin Hicks of Badger.
