W. M. STATHAM PASSES AWAY
Highly Respected Citizen and Old Soldier Has Gone to Rest
Mr. W.M. Statham, 79 years old, one of the oldest citizens in the county, marks the passing of one of the landmarks of Wilcox County. Mr. Statham was one of the first citizens in the county, and was a gallant soldier in the confederacy having received the Cross of Honor from the local U.D.C. Mr. Statham died last Friday and was buried on Saturday at New Hope Primitive Baptist Church, the funeral services being conducted by Prof. J.L. Newbern. He leaves a wife, four sons and four daughters to mourn his death.
