Death of Mrs. J. H. Massey on Last Thursday
Mrs. J. H. Massey was found dead last Thursday in the pasture near the home. Death was probably caused by heart trouble.
Betty Hester West was born in Franklin County, Alabama, on 4-6-1864. She was married to J. H. Massey, 2-5-1881. Mr. and Mrs. Massey came to Texas in an ox wagon 39 years ago, first settling on Fall Creek and later moved to Acton where they lived the past 30 years.
Mrs. Massey joined the Church of Christ and lived a true Christian life until her death. She was laid to rest in the Acton Cemetery on Friday, funeral services being conducted by Eld. H. B. Cash. She leaves her husband, three sons and seven daughters. One daughter, Mrs. Sheila Sparks having passed away in 1917. The children surviving are; Mrs. Jim Henslee, Lindsay, Oklahoma; Nettie Massey, Cleburne; Mrs. T. C. Berry, Godley; Floyd, Grady and John W. Massey; Mrs. C. W. Eades, Mrs. Billie Gilliam, Mrs. Clarence Federick and Mrs. Carlton Cleveland, all of Granbury. She leaves 41 grand children, 9 great-grandchildren and a host of friends to mourn her death.
