Alfredo Carmona, from Peurta Rico, was an Wiper on the ill-fated US Merchant Marine tanker, SS Oklahoma, when it was torpedoed by a German U-boat, off the Brunswick, Georgia coastline on April 8, 1942. He is here at Palmetto cemetery along with 4 of his mates who died during that dreadful night, during World War II.
