"The funeral service for Charles Anderson, 62, a resident of Greene county since 1887, was conducted at 3 p. m. Friday, July 16, from the Methodist church in Dana, with the Rev. Garold Noland, pastor in charge. Soloist was Mrs. Freeland McCallan, who sang the hymns ‘No Night There' and ‘Gates Ajar.' She was accompanied by Mrs. Bertha Roeder.
Interment was made in the Paton township cemetery, with the following serving as bearers: William Calvert, Glen Hillman, Walter Moritz, L. E. Petersen, Ben Wright and Morgan Johnson.
Mr. Anderson died Sunday, July 4, at the home of his sister, Mrs. H. M. Marker of Jefferson. He had been taken there the Friday before from his home in Dana.
He was born Nov. 6, 1880, in Pennsylvania, and settled about two miles northwest of Dana when the family came here in 1887.
He is survived by his wife; three daughters, Alice Hansen of Sioux City, and Helen Bryant and Myrtle Thompson, both of Glendale Cal.; two sons, Edwin Anderson of Burlington and Pvt. Vernon Claire Anderson of Camp Polk, La.; three sisters, Mrs. Marker, Mrs. Clara Hammond of Des Moines, and Mrs. Frank Wise (Florence) of Bell, Cal. besides a brother, harry Anderson of Paton."
