Alfred Nelson Manning was the son of Benjamin Seabury Manning and Asenath Abell Robinson. He married Martha E. Burchard in Sep 1876. On 20 Feb 1917 he filled out a Military Census in which he stated that he was a Tool Room Clerk, previously had been a Carpenter, had a bad leg, could handle a team, had experience with a steam engine, had some experience with electrical machinery, and stated he was a good swimmer.
