Daughter of Archelaus and Fanny(Carter) Carlos. Archelaus was
reportably of an aristocratic Spanish family that had settled in Virginia.
Marie married Tillman DIXON in Sussex Co., Va., 16 Nov 1789. Tilman son of Henry and Elizabeth ( Abernathy) Dixon, d/o of Robert Abernathy,.

They were married by the Rev Thomas Lundie, Rector of St Andrews Parrish , Sussex VA.

Maria was sister to William Carter Don Carlos(b1769) and was possibly
of a royal Spanish family. Various mentions and hints to this thru the years.
1 . A story of Tilman Dixon line. Prince Louis, France , on tour of Southern States, stayed in home of Tilman and wife , Maria Carlos. Prince Louis refered to all the children In the home. Tilman, responded, all children of a Royal line . Maria, was granddaughter of a John Carlos, b 1700, Spain.
2. Peter Horn 1913 Obit- notes the Don Carlos connection to Spanish Royal family.

A Dixon family Bible contains the following entries: "Died at his residence at Dixon Springs, Tenn on 2nd of April a.d.1816, at 10 minutes after 10 o'clock A.M. Major Tilman Dixon in the sixty sixth year of his age."

"Died on the 26th day of August half after 3 P.M. A.D. 1806, Mrs Mary Dixon , consort of Major Tilmon Dixon in the 40th year of her age."
