Spirit of Democracy, Woodsfield, Ohio, dated, March 7, 1946

A wave of sympathetic interest and sorrow was felt throughout the county Tuesday morning when word was received that Clem Lentz had passed away while he slept Monday night death presumably due to a heart attack. He had not been in rugged health for some time but on Monday seemed to be as well as usual and had finished his day's work at his store.

Mr. Lentz was the last member of his family and was about 75 years of age. He and his cousin Jacob Lentz, were owners of the store until the latter's death several years ago. Known as Lentz's Store for nearly 50 years, it was probably the oldest merchandising firm in southern Monroe County.

Mr. Lentz served two years as a member of the Monroe County Selective Service Board, resigning on account of ill health.

Funeral services were held this Thursday afternoon at the Antioch Christian church, in charge of Rev. J. L. Baker, of Barnesville, a very close friend. Interment was in the Antioch cemetery by the Haudenschield funeral home.

Mr. Lentz was a man of friendly disposition, well read, and highly respected. In his death Antioch and Monroe County loses a fine citizen. He was unmarried and is survived by a number of nieces and nephews, besides more distant relatives. He was born in the Antioch community and spent his life there.
