Loyal C. Foster of Viola, son of the late Anthon and Effie McCandlis Foster, was born Nov. 6, 1924, in rural Viola. He died July 6, 2006, at Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain Home at the age of 81.
He was united in marriage to Mary Jane Musick on May 2, 1952, at Kansas City, Mo.

He served in the United States Army during world War II. He was a farmer. He was on the board of ASCS and he worked for the Arkansas Forestry Commission. He was a member of the Assembly of God and a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Survivors include his wife, Mary, of the family home; children, Belinda Barker and husband Danny of Birch Tree, Mo., Phil Foster and wife Teresa of Horseshoe Bend, Rick Foster and wife, Rita, of Viola, Burdetta Pendergrass and husband, Kevin of Heart, and Rex Foster and wife Amy of Camp; grandchildren, Misty Wilkins and husband Shawn, Candace Stanley and husband Matt, Dustin Barker, Jonathan Foster and wife Amy, Renea, Raeleen, Ryan and Kevin Foster, Kelsey and Kendra Pendergrass, Emily and Maggie Foster; great-grandchildren, Colete and Kyle Wilkens, Ashton, Jared and Kylie Stanley; brother, Guindal Foster and wife Ruth of Warsaw, Mo.; sisters, Lorene Talley of West Plains, Mo., Wilma McLain and husband, J.C. of Bolivar, Mo., Ella Marino of Ft. Leonardwood, Mo., Allie Brotherton of Bolivar and June Smith and husband Bill of Emma, Mo.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Clifford Foster; and his parents.

Services were held July 8 at the Viola Assembly of God with burial following in Mt. Calm Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Cox-Blevins Funeral Home of Salem.
