Philip Thomas Asiala, 59, of Brethren, died Jan. 29, 1998 at his home in Dickson Township.
He was born Oct. 9, 1938 in Copemish, the son of Eino Asiala and Anna (Kaudy) Asiala. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Vietnam.
Philip was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Onekama; the Dickson Township Planning Commission; and the Dickson Township Fire Department. He enjoyed hunting.
On June 11, 1966, in Onekama, he married Bertha E. (Brown) Asiala, who survives. Also surviving are: his children, Michael (Irene) Asiala, Pascagoula, Miss., Scott (Suzette) Asiala, Harrietta, Jennifer Asiala, Manistee, and Renee Asiala, Brethren; one grandson, Skylar Asiala, Harrietta; one granddaughter, Madeline Asiala, Harrietta; four step-grandsons; three brothers, Stanley (Elaine) Asiala, Manistee, Raymond (Linda) Asiala, Traverse City, and George Asiala, Brethren; three sisters, Patricia Travis, Brethren, Carol (Gary) Gustad, Manistee, and Judy (Steven) Rouse, Traverse City; his mother-in-law, Lola Brown, Brethren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 1, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Onekama, with the Rev. Paul Pollatz officiating.
