Born and raised in Brownwood TX, he enlisted in the Army Air Corps in November 1941 and served primarily in the South Pacific until 1945. While serving a second enlistment with the U.S. Air Force, from 1948 - 1953, he surrendered his life for the ministry. Upon his discharge from the military, he entered Howard Payne College in Brownwood TX, where he graduated with a degree in Theology in 1956. After 34 years in California he returned to Brownwood in 1999 where he lived for 4 1/2 years prior to his passing.
