"At the age of 16, Michael immigrated with ttwo sisters, from Ireland to New York, circa 1768. On 10 Feb 1776 he enlisted in the 1st Penn Regiment as a rifleman, at hagerstown, Maryland and served 14 months in the Continental Army under Captain John Nelson, under the command of Colinel De Hoss. Aug/ 1791 Michael married Elizabeth Wallingford at Berkley, Virginia. A land grant of 400 acres from Patrick henry, Governor of Virginia, enabled Michael and family to locate on the Rolling Fork River, which later became part of Hardin County, Ky. Here he remained until h is death."
