Funeral services for Mrs. Anna Swepston Abernethy, former resident of Gonzales
who died at Sumpter, South Carolina, Wednesday morning, will be conducted here
Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the Seydler Funeral Chapel followed by
interment in the Masonic Cemetery beside the remains of her husband, Judge B.R.
Abernethy, who passed away here many years ago.
The remains will leave Sumpter tonight arriving in Luling Saturday at 4 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted by Rev .K.C. Minter, pastor of the First
Methodist Church, of which Mrs. Abernethy was an active and beloved member for
Surviving Mrs. Abernethy are two sons, Brigadier General Robert S. Abernethy,
United States Army, retired with whom she made her home, and Summer Abernethy of
New York City.
Judge and Mrs. Abernethy and family were prominent residents of Gonzales years
ago, active in the church, social and civic life of the city for many years.
Mrs. Abernethy was a member of the first order of the Eastern Star , to be
organized here and also belonged to the Gonzales Chapter Daughters of the
Pallbearers include D.U. Ramsay W.L. Gardien Jr., Robert Walker, E.Ray Bright,
F.M. Fly and Palmer Crockett.
