"Miss Carrie Anna Hanway was born
July 6, 1896, and her spirit was called back
to God who gave it March 12, 1915 at 12:15 noon, at
the age of 18 years, 8 months, and six days.

"Deceased was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John L. Hanway, and was a young lady possessing many charms of mind and person. For two years she had attended the Bridgeport high school and during that time she endeared herself to her school mates and teachers and won the esteem and friendship of the people of this city with whom she came in contact.

"For fourteen days previous to her death she had been afflicted with appendicitis and on the twelfth day submitted to an operation. In her weakened condition she could not rally from the shock and death resulted as stated above. The funeral took place on Saturday afternoon from the home of Mr. and Mrs. Mark Iddings, and the remains were laid to rest in Forest Lawn cemetary.

"She leaves to mourn her untimely death her parents,
Mr. and Mrs. John L. Hanway, six brothers, Marcus, Marshall, Charles, Robert, and Boyd, and two sisters,
Mrs. Mark Iddings, and Miss Ellen Hanway, and in the sorrow that has come to them, they have the sympathy
of the entire community. The passing of Anna Hanway is particularly sad. Just as she was budding into lovely young womanhood, with every promise of a happy and useful life before her, she has been called from amongst us, her life's work ended--her earthly mission done.

"It is useless at a time like this to offer words of comfort to the bereaved ones, and we can only commend them to that All-Wise God who doeth all things well. Six high school girls served as pallbearers and Rev. G. F. McDougall of the Presbyterian church conducted the services."
