WEST BRANDYWINE A 49-year-old Honey Brook woman died during a multiple-vehicle crash early Friday morning at the intersection of Route 322 and Highspire Road, according to police.

The crash unfolded about 6:35 a.m. as the victim, Dewey Book, was traveling east on Route 322 in a Dodge Caravan.

Her vehicle was reportedly rear-ended by a pickup truck as she stopped to make a left turn onto Highspire Road, according to West Brandywine Police Chief Walt Werner.

Book's car was then pushed into the west lane of Route 322 then broadsided by a Cadillac traveling in the west lane, according to Werner.

The driver in the pickup truck, who was not immediately identified, was taken to Brandywine Hospital for treatment of injuries he sustained during the crash. A male driver in the Cadillac and a female passenger were taken to Reading Hospital for treatment of injuries, according to police.

Route 322 at the intersection of Highspire Road was shut down for roughly six hours Friday.

West Brandywine police were assisted by the Chester County Serious Crash Analysis Team, East Brandywine and Glen Moore fire companies, and Martin's Corner and Honey Brook EMS crews at the crash.
