Cassandra G. "Cassie" Donovan, a senior at Woburn High School who would have celebrated her 18th birthday this coming Friday, died early Saturday morning, January 22nd as a result of injuries suffered in a car accident on Kilby Street in Woburn late Friday. She was the beloved daughter of James F. and Patricia D. (Gage) Donovan, Jr. of Woburn.

Cassie was born in Winchester on January 28th, 1987, and grew up in East Woburn. She attended the Goodyear Elementary School and Kennedy Middle School. A member of Woburn High School's Class of 2005, she had recently been awarded the John and Abigail Adams Scholarship Award for her outstanding MCAS scores. She was also a member of the student council and the Leo Club at the high school.

For the past four years, Cassie had worked summers as well as part-time during the school year at Specialized Receivables in Wakefield.

She was very involved in jujitsu for about nine years and held the distinction of having earned a first degree brown belt. In earlier years she was active in Woburn Youth Soccer.

Surviving in addition to her parents, Jim and Patricia Donovan of Woburn, are three brothers, James F. Donovan III and his wife Lynne of Billerica, Kirk A. Donovan and his wife Charlene of Wilmington, and Clint T. Donovan and his wife Kristin of Chelmsford.

She was also the loving granddaughter of Helen C. (Russo) Donovan of Woburn and the late James F. Donovan, Ann Walters of Mesquite, Texas, and Bill Gage and his wife Billie of Lima, Ohio. Cassie also leaves many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Calling hours will be held in St. Charles Church, 280 Main Street, Woburn, on Wednesday, January 26th, from 3 to 8 p.m. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, January 27th, at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn.

Donations may be made in Cassie's memory to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701.
