Marie Johnson 1898-1993

Marie Johnson, 94, of Clearbrook, died Wednesday, March 3, 1993, at the Clearwater County Memorial Hospital in Bagley.
Marie Snobeck Johnson was born December 28, 1898, to Martin and Martha Snobeck, near Gonvick. She grew up in Pine Lake Township. She married Selmer Okstad who preceded her in death in 1918 in World War I. TO this union a son, Selmer Martin was born. Selmer died at sea in World War II. Marie was a Gold Star Mother.
She married Axel H. Johnson November 4, 1927, in Gonvick. They lived in Eddy Township until 1972 when they moved into Clearbrook. He died October 15, 1978. Marie had resided at the Good Samaritan Center since April of 1982. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Clearbrook. In 1944 Christ became her personal savior.
Survivors include two sons, Harlyn of Clearbrook, and Maynard of Wayzata; six daughters, Arlys (Mrs. Arvid) Emmel, Deloris (Mrs. Loren) Nelson and Marilyn (Mrs. Paul) Nelson, all of Clearbrook, Beverly (Mrs. Harlan) Lindgren of Shakopee, Estelle Johnson of St. Paul, and Mayzelle (Mrs. Richard) Morlan of Bemidji; 23 grandchildren; one sister, Ruth Satter at the Good Samaritan Center, Clearbrook; one cousin, Orville Snobeck whom she raised from infancy; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, one son, an infant daughter, two brothers and three sisters.
Her funeral was Saturday, March 6, 1993, at the First Baptist Church, Clearbrook, with Pastor Gerald Devereux officiating. Interment was at the Maple Hill Cemetery under the direction of the Cease Funeral Home, Bagley.
