BOUCHÉ, Jeanne C. of Lancaster, California, passed away at the age of 88, on Thursday, December 10, 2009, following a long struggle with illnesses stemming from pulmonary and heart disease. She is survived by her four children: Regina (Jim) Papa of Dayton, Ohio; Paul (Sharon) Bouché of Lakewood, Calif.; Stephen (Sharon) Bouché of Lancaster, Calif.; and Renée Bouché of Lancaster, Calif. Her husband, Paul J. Bouché, Lt. Col. USAF (retired) preceded her in death 11 years ago, just weeks short of their 55th wedding anniversary. In addition to her children, Jeanne is survived by her sisters Rita Shaughnessy of Hingham, Ma., and Aileen Stanton of Quincy, Ma., as well as nieces and nephews too numerous to mention but who loved her deeply. Her sister, Ruth Hurd, preceded her in death in 1992, her brother Francis Murphy died in 1988, and an infant brother, John Vincent, was born and died in 1930. Jeanne was a loving and devoted grandmother to Tony and Vinnie Papa, Stephanie (Scott) Howard, Shannon Ries, and Sandy (Cathy) Chandler. Jeanne was also blessed to be great-grandmother to Bettie Jeanne Howard and Leilani Chandler. Jeanne was born in Boston, Ma., the third of four daughters of Annie (née Tobin) and John Joseph Murphy. She married Lt. Paul J. Boucha (subsequently changed to Bouché) in August of 1943. Following the end of World War II, Paul left active duty, and they lived in Boston for several years while Paul served as a fireman for the Boston Fire Department. In 1951, Paul was called back to active duty in the U.S. Air Force and their life together took them to Sampson AFB, New York, and Europe where they lived in Wiesbaden, Germany for three years. While in Germany, Jeanne traveled to Austria, Belgium, France, Italy, the Netherlands and Switzerland. On returning to the United States, they lived in Hillcrest Heights, Maryland, for five years while Paul was stationed at Andrews AFB and then moved to Edwards AFB, Calif., in August of 1964. After Pauls retirement from the Air Force in 1970, Jeanne, Paul, and the family settled in Lancaster. In addition to her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, and good friends, Jeanne loved animals throughout her life and, along with Paul, rescued many cats, dogs, and a parakeet. For a time, the Bouché home was known to be a local sanctuary for abandoned cats. Even in the last months of Jeannes life, she made one final rescue - a sweet-natured dog named Simon who served as faithful companion to the end. The family would like to acknowledge Jeannes dear friends and neighbors, Marv and Neoma Tingdahl, for their friendship and support for more than thirty years. In addition, we thank Priority Care and, specifically, Haydee, for her loving care of Jeanne during the last four and a half months of her life. We also thank Dr. Pradeep Damle, Helen Woods, and the staff of the Antelope Valley Lung Institute who cared for Jeanne for many years, Lastly, to Lancaster Community Hospital, which provided us peace and privacy during the last hours of Jeannes life, we will be forever grateful. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., with a Rosary and Prayer Service at 7 p.m., Thursday, December 17, 2009, at Halley- Olsen-Murphy, Lancaster. A Celebration Mass will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, December 18, 2009, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lancaster. Interment at Good Shepherd Cemetery will follow. Because of Jeannes love of all Gods creatures, memorial donations can be made to the ASPCA www.aspca.org/donate or D.E.L.T.A. Rescue www.deltarescue.org
The sorrow we all feel with Jeannes passing must be tempered with the knowledge that she
loved, nurtured, saved, and
supported family, friends, and pets
selflessly for 88 years.
Jeanne truly lived a wonderful life.
