NEIL O'DONNELL DEAD
PASSES AWAY AT HIS HOME FRIDAY EVENING
DEATH RESULTED FROM A PARAYTIC STROKE RECEIVED SOME MONTHS AGO ADOPTED WITH A COMPLICATION OF OTHER DISEASE-WAS BORN IN IRELAND, BUT LIVED HERE FOR MANY YEARS.
Neil O'Donnell, aged seventy-two years, a native of Ireland, but for many years a resident of this city, died at his late home at 228 South Purdum Street shortly after 7 o'clock Friday night. Death came after an illness of some duration, and resulted from paralysis, coupled with other ailments. The paralytic stroke occured about a year ago, and while for a time Mr. O'Donnell's condition was improved, he became worse, and for the last few weeks sank rapidly.
He was born in Donegal, Ireland, coming to this country, as did many another youngster from the fardowne, when a lad. He found employment at the first thing that came to his hand and all of his life was one of unremitting industry. During the latter years his children had urged him to desist from his duties at the Plate Glass factory, which had claimed his activities for years, but he preferred to work, and was better contented so.
Neil O'Donnell was a gentle, honorable and companionable man. His life was clean, and his honesty above reproach. He was blessed with that fine neighborliness of spirit that saw a friend in every man with whom he came in contact. He was no man's enemy, and to his friends he was unquestionably loyal. In his neighborhood, and in his workshop, he was held in the highest esteem, and sincere indeed will be the regret at his passing.
The widow and six children survive. The children are Mrs. Rose Lundgren, Atlanta, GA.; Mrs. Con Carey, South Union St, this city; Miss Mary O'Donnell, this city and the Rev. Charles Leo O'Donnell, student in the priesthood and an ordained deacon, Washington, DC. Both Mrs. Lundgren and the Rev. Charles arrived here Friday night.
