Obituary:
Mrs. Mary Ellen Parsons of Mount Union passed away at 4:45 o'clock this Tuesday morning, November 23, 1965, at Shirleysburg. She had been ill for one week prior to her death, although she had been in failing health for the past two years. She was born May 11, 1869 at Salem, Shade Valley, the daughter of Steven and Elizabeth (Barner) Watters. On January 5, 1896, she was united in marriage with C. Humphrey Parsons. Mr. Parsons died in 1951. The couple spent their married life near Salem and since Mr. Parsons' passing, his widow had resided in Mount Union. Mrs. Parsons was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Mount Union. Mrs. Parsons, the last surviving member of her immediate family, has two daughters, Mrs. Russell (Lolita) Parsons of Mount Union, Mrs. Gladys Morrrow, also of Mount Union, nine grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son. The funeral service will take place Friday afternoon, November 26, at 2 o'clock from the Clark funeral home, Mount Union. Officiating will be the Rev. James W. Matz, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Mount Union. Interment will be made in the Salem Cemetery. Friends will be received at the funeral home after noon on Thursday.
