Mariam Alpheus George, son of E.J. and Ida L. George, was born at Salina, Kas., September 21, 1907, and departed from this life at Ottawa, Kas., September 15, 1933, aged 25 years, 11 months and 24 days. Interment was made in the Chester cemetery (sic), Monday afternoon.
He leaves to mourn, his father and mother of Welda, Kas.; two brothers and four sisters, Harold E. of Abilene, Kas.; Mrs. Marie Coulter, Ford, Kas.; Mrs. Leona Langshaw, Independence, Kas.; Everett, Nelta and Wilma of Welda. A brother, Clarence Arnold and an infant sister preceded him to the great beyond. He also leaves many relatives and friends, who learned to know and love him.
He graduated from the Salina high school in 1926, and later spent a year at Kansas State College. He moved to Greeley, Kas., in August, 1929. In the spring of 1930 he rented a farm near Greeley, and the family moved to the farm with him and resided with him until a month ago, when they moved to Welda, and Mariam planned to remain on the farm.
His health condition has been unfavorable for three or four months, but had not been considered serious, until a short time before his death.
Mariam united with the Methodist church (sic) at Clifton, Kas., in his childhood and retained his membership. He was a sincere Christian and took an active part in church and community affairs. He will be greatly missed by his family, relatives and friends.
His departure draws us nearer to the one who said: "Come unto Me and I will give you rest. In My Father's house are many mansions....I will go to prepare a place for you."
