Sciantha Lucinda Simpson had two sisters and three brothers. She had a primary education. She had dark hair and grey-blue eyes, was 5'5", 160#. She was of English-Scottish descent, and a Methodist.

Lucinda crossed the plains with her parents in 1852 with an ox team and settled in the Willamette Valley of Oregon. She was married to Peter Rudio March 2, 1854 and moved to The Dalles, Oregon in 1855. In 1870 they moved to the John Day Valley. In 1877 they moved to Walla Walla, which was their home until they came to live with their daughter, Mrs. Andrew Kahler, of Centralia, Washington.
