nettie noe was born in limestone, arkansas to c.c. and narcissus casey [lum and shug]. she wanted to be a school teacher, but became a wife and mother at an early age. she was curious to learn, and was taught about native plants and herbs. this knowledge served her family well as she prepared remedys for ailments.

after nettie married carl "albert" noe, they moved to missouri then to oklahoma. they were living in muskogee in 1941 when they decided to join the great migration to california. there they stayed.

nettie was family centered, but also had interests outside the home. she put her writing skills to use writing a column for the farmersville news herald. she was always active in her church, and in later life, the senior citizens club. her children included sons conrad, howard ,carl and harold and daughters ola mae and loretta lee.
