Luther "Luke" Howell, 81, of Steele, died March 6, 1992 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Blytheville. Born March 15, 1910 in Tyler, he was the son of Lonnie and Levonia Salisbury Howell. He was a taxi driver, a member of First Baptist Church in Steele, a veteran of World War II and a member of the American Legion. He was preceded in death by a sister and two brothers.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Louise Steel Howell of Steele; A daughter, Lana Howell Miller of Las Vegas; A brother, Finas Leon "Lee" Howell of St. Louis; And two sisters, Mrs. Harlan Gilmer of Matthews and Ray Neudecker of St. Louis;
Services were March 10 at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church, the Rev. Ben Early and the Rev. James McCrary officiatiing, with burial in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Bradshaw German-Aumon Funeral Home of Steele in charge.
