** (Per J. P. Alderman's 29th VA History) Enlisted Co E, 29th VA 8/6/61 in Carroll. detailed as nurse 4/62 and 6/62; listed as deserted 4/63; present 4/64 and 12/64; postwar records say he was wounded in the hand at Dinwiddie C.H. Living in Carroll in 1910.

He died during a deep freeze in March and was originally buried in the Catron Cemetery at Ivanhoe because the river was frozen and the ferry wasn't operating. There were no bridges across New River anywhere close to Ivanhoe at that time.

In October, 1996, his remains were reburied beside his wife in the Horton School Cemetery at Sunnyside.
