Ansel Lee Long, 69, died Saturday afternoon January 10, 1970 at the Pratt county hospital after a short illness. He was born July 7 1900 on a farm west of Preston, Kansas. He married Josephine Leona Prience (who was born in Dalhart Texas) on April 14, 1923 in Preston, Kansas. He married Irma Merkle on January 17, 1928 at St. John, Kansas Doc was a farmer in the Preston area and had been a lifetime resident there. He was a member of the United Methodist church, Preston. Survivors include the widow, daughters, Mrs. Roy Jennings, Hominy Oklahoma, daughters Mrs Fern Woodworth and Mrs Maxine Flinn of Woodland California; Mrs. Bonnie Guthrie, Stafford; brother Ernest, Haviland, Kansas; sisters Mrs Alfred Guthrie, Preston; Mrs Edna Mae Roark Merced, California and eight grandchildren. Doc was the first of 7 children born to James Edward Long and Stella Lodicia Cox.
