Alexander Addy
Alexander Addy of Lee township, died April 11, 1917. He was born near Cambridge, Guernsey county, Ohio, Sept. 9, 1854. He was 63 years, 7 months and 2 days old. He was married to Mary Howell May 10, 1874. To them were born 13 children, seven sons and six daughters, one daughter dying in infancy. The names of the children are as follows: Thomas, Mrs. Emma Thompson, Charley, Clyde, Mrs. Blanch Brooker, Finley, Mrs. Hattie Himes, Jessie, deceased, Guy, Ray, Orvie, Mrs. Leo Walters and Greta who is at home with her mother. There are 33 grandchildren. Besides the widow, children and grandchildren he leaves to mourn their loss five brothers and two sisters: Tillie Addy of Ohio, Ella, J. E., and Finley of Madison county; Ed of Earlham, Preston of Ohio. Funeral services were held at the North Branch U. B. church on Friday, conducted by Rev. H. N. Hicks of Van Meter.
Alex Addy was a man of splendid parts, generous, fair minded and a real friend to those who stood in need of sympathy and assistance. He will be sorely missed in the neighborhood where he had lived for many years.
We wish to thank our many friends for their kindness rendered us during the illness and death of our husband and father.
