Paul was the only son, having three sisters: Marie who died at age 17, Emma, and Wilhelmina "Minnie."
He was baptized on Christmas Day, 25 Dec 1877, in the Zion Lutheran Church in Sublime, Lavaca County, Texas.
Two Schoenfeld siblings married two Schumaker siblings:
Paul married Dorothea Schumaker, the daughter of August Charles Schumaker and Magdalena Pelzer Schumaker, in the Sublime Zion Lutheran Church on 9 Aug 1898.
The following year, Paul's sister Wilhelmina "Minnie" married Dorothea's brother, Charles August Schumaker on 28 December 1899.
About 1912, the surname of "Schoenfeld" acquired an "i" and became "Schoenfield."
Paul and Dorothea were the parents of five children:
Olga, Clarence, twins Leo and Leonard, and Alvin.
About 1912, the family moved to Taiton in Wharton County, Texas where they continued to be engaged in farming and ranching.
On 25 November 1922, tragedy struck the family when Paul's wife Dorothea died from a stroke. She was only 42 years of age.
In 1926, Paul's son Leo married Douglas Elzira Richter. In 1929, the widowed Paul married Douglas' mother, Daisy Ferguson Richter. Paul and Daisy were married for 22 years before Paul had a stroke and died from pneumonia on 1 Feb 1951 in El Campo, Wharton County, Texas.
