Mrs. J. L. Babler, nee Oda B. Aurand. She was born and reared to womanhood in our midst and attended both Franklin Public School and Baird College and later attended Hardin College where she received the medal in art.
Since being out of school, her sole aim has been to minister to her aged father and mother and make their lives happy but since losing her father almost three years ago she has been almost heartbroken. Since then she lived with her mother and has been a great comforter to her, until five months ago, when she plighted her troth with J. L. Babler, a prominent young attorney of ElDorado Springs, and had she been spared, would have made the home of her chosen life companion a paradise on earth. She had been ill for a number of months with a complication of diseases and all that loving hands and the best medical skill could do was done, but to no avail.
Her Savior called her to that world on high and at 11 p.m. Monday she breathed her last and her spirit winged its flight to the angels.
Funeral services were held at the residence of her mother, Mrs. Wm. Aurand on South Second Street. Those who attended the funeral from a distance were H. J. and Miss Marie Babler of ElDorado, brother and sister of the deceased's husband, and the deceased's sister, Mrs. Rev. Walker and family of Freeman.
