Bertha Zwagerman, 102, a resident at the Sibley Care Center, died Friday, July 26, 1996.

Services were held on Monday, Sept. 29 at 10:00 a.m. at Hospers Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Robert A. VandeVord officiated. Burial was in Hospers Cemetery under the direction of the Van Etten-Oolman-Van Gelder Funeral Home in Orange City.

Betha was born June 11, 1894 in Alton, the daughter of Douwe and Augusta (Kadolph) De Boer. She married Jacob Zwagerman on May 15, 1919 in Alton. He died in 1949. The couple farmed at Hospers until 1940 when they moved to town as owners and operators of J.P. Zwagerman Hardware.

Mrs. Zwagerman was a member of the First Reformed Church of Hospers and the Dorcas Society.

She was also preceded in death by seven brothers and nine sisters.
