Joseph Sykora, age 86, died at his home here at 6:15 p.m. last Friday after an extended illness.
Funeral services were held at 9 a.m. Monday at the Catholic Church, the Rev. Father George Doskocil officiating. Interment was in St. Mary's Cemetery.
Rosary was recited at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at Aderhold's Chapel.
Born in Czechoslovakia, Mr. Sykora came to the United States when he was six years of age. He was married at Fayetteville, Texas to the former Miss Mary Chudej. He had been a resident of this community for the past 60 years and was a member of the KJT lodge at West.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Marie Sykora; five sons, Ludvick Sykora of West, Louis Sykora of Abbott, August Sykora of West, Andrew Sykora of Waco and John J. Sykora of Penelope; one daughter, Mrs. John J. Maca, of Kingsville; three brothers, John Sykora of Ross, Alois Sykora of Mt. Calm, William Sykora of West; four sisters, Mrs. Rozina Urbanovsky, Mrs. Agnes Urbanovsky, Mrs. Charlie Bezdek and Mrs. Julia Chudej, all of West.
