ROCKWELL - Carol Childress Goodwin, 67, of Rockwell, went to be with her Lord and Savior Sunday, Nov. 15, 2009, after a period of declining health.
Born May 16, 1942, in Cabarrus County to Martha Helms of Salisbury and the late William M. Childress, she was a 1961 graduate of China Grove High School. Carol worked for Big Elm Nursing and Retirement center as a receptionist and was a member of Kannapolis Church of God.
Carol loved, supported and encouraged her husband, children and grandchildren.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a son, William Christopher Goodwin, on May 7, 1999.
Those left to cherish her memory are husband John Lawrence Goodwin, whom she married July 27, 1961; son John Lawrence Goodwin, Jr. and wife Jeannie of Carters-ville, Ga.; daughter Tamara Chambers and husband Stephen of Albemarle; sister Eva Kerley and husband Bennie of Enochville; grandchildren John Lawrence Goodwin III (Brianna), Sarah Jane Goodwin, Rachel, Miller and Elizabeth Chambers.
Visitation: 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home, China Grove.
Service: 11 a.m. Wednesday in Northcrest Chapel of the funeral home, conducted by Rev. Sam Crisp, pastor, Kannapolis Church Of God. Interment to follow at West Lawn Memorial Park.
