MRS. R. CRALL DIES SUNDAY

Death Marks Second in Immediate Family in 57 Years; Funeral Tuesday

An illness of two months terminated early Sunday morning in the death at her home in Sulphur Springs of Mrs. Reuben Crall, lifelong and prominent member of Liberty township.

Superinduced by heart trouble the death of Mrs. Crall was directly caused by dropsey with which she had been suffering since the latter part of January. Her death although momentarily expected for two or three weeks, came quietly at 2:30 Sunday morning after she had lapsed into a deep sleep.

The death of Mrs. Crall marks but the second death in the immediate Crall family since her marriage fifty seven years ago to Reuben Crall who survives.

Although the couple reared six children whose families grew to a total of 12 grandchildren and six great grandchildren there were not any death in the family until November 16, 1926 when Miss Bessie Crall, a daughter succumbed at their Sulphur Springs home, two years after Mr. and Mrs. Crall had celebrated their golden wedding anniversary.

Born in 1854

Barbara Susanna Crall was born in Liberty township October 7, 1854. She was the daughter of David and Mary Heckenlively Pfleiderer who after coming here from Germany, were among the earliest settlers in Crawford county.

Mrs. Crall was married January 29, 1874. Three years later she moved with her husband to a farm near Warsaw, Indiana, where they resided for six years before returning to Crawford county where they took up their residence in 1883 at the Crall homestead on the Davis road. Remaining at the homestead until 1920 Mr. and Mrs. Crall then moved to the Enfield farm near Zion Evangelical church on the Plymouth road in in 1923 retired from active farming and took up their residence of Sulpher Springs.

In the death of Mrs. Crall, Liberty township loses one of its venerable residents who was widely known for her Christianity and her loyalty to her family and church. Her teachings were confined not only to her immediate family but to many others who knew her as a friend and advisor.

Besides her husband Mrs. Crall is survived by three sons Milton E. Crall of Bucyrus township, Edward J. and Henry D. Crall of Liberty township; two daughters, Mrs. Mary Sturtaz, who resides on the old Crall homestead and Mrs. Orra Beaver also of Liberty township; four sisters, Miss Margaret Pfleiderer of Sulphur Springs and Mrs. Jacob Ulmer, Mrs. Swingley Light and Mrs. Fred Heiber of Liberty township and one brother Isaac Pfleiderer of Bucyrus. Three sisters and two brothers preceded her in death.

A lifelong member of Zion Evangelical church, Mrs. Crall was also a member of the church Sunday school, of the Ladies Aid and Women's Missionary societies and of the W. C. T. U.

Brief funeral services will be held at the home Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 followed by church services at St. John's Lutheran church, Sulphur Springs, at 2 o'clock. Interment will be made in Union cemetery east of Sulphur Springs. Friends may call at the home anytime.
