Alois served as a Staff Sergeant & Right Waist Gunner on B-17G "Patriotic Patty" (#43-37812), 351st Bomber Squadron, 100th Bomber Group, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He resided in Erie County, New York prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on July 13, 1942 in Buffalo, New York. He was noted as being employed in a machine shop and also as Single, with dependents.

Alois was "Killed In Action" when his B-17 was hit by enemy flak and crashed near Montabaur, Germany during the war. He was awarded the Air Medal and the Purple Heart.

He was originally interred overseas and was later repatriated here on October 16, 1950.
