HENRY STARK LIVES TO 74; HIS GANDERS ARE MORE THAN 80 YEARS OLD
Henry Stark, 74, died Saturday at Nunica after an illness of three months. Mr. Stark was known in poultry associations for raising wild geese and ducks as decoys for hunters. He started this work many years ago when he bought a flock of wild Canadian geese in Canada and brought them to this country long before the civil war. These geese now are more than 80 years old and still on his farm and are continuing to breed. They are very tame and it was Mr. Stark's delight to exhibit them at poultry shows.
Two of the geese in question were on exhibit at a Holland poultry show about 10 years ago and attracted considerable attention.
Mr. Stark is survived by his wife and the following children: Flora Stark, Green Valley, Wis.; Walter Stark, Muskegon; Mrs. Ellen Capelle, Fond du Lac, Wis., Myron and Alvin Stark, Detroit; Nettie, Josephine, Levi R., and Eugene Stark, Nunica.
Funeral Services were held in the family home today, with Rev. E. L. Prentice, Coopersville, officiating. Interment was in Spring Lake Cemetery.
Apparently there are no records showing Henry was buried in Spring Lake Cemetery, but he is there. Thanks to Steven Palmer!
