Mrs. Nancy Rooks, age 74, died at her residence near Myrtle Springs at 10a on Saturday May 29, 1920 after an illness of about 10 days. Mrs. Rooks, born and raised in Sumter County, spent her entire life here. She was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church.
survivors include: her husband, Rufus Rooks, 2 daughters: Mrs. Mary E RIchards and Mrs. Willie Griffin, 1 son Wisdom Rooks all of Americus.
Funeral services were held Sunday April 30, 1920 from Shiloh Baptist Church with Rev. w.J. Ballew officiating. Interment was in Shiloh Cemetery.

Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery survey submitted by Alan Anderson has the following notation:

"Nannie ROOKS 1848-1918 (d. May 29,1920; Daily T-R 5-30-20)."

It appears her tombstone death year should have been 1920, but the cemetery survey shows 1918.
