Cephas Clackett was Baptized on December 7th, 1834 at the St. Peter's Methodist Church in Canterbury, Kent, England.

He emigrated to Bushwick, Brooklyn from England in March 1837 with his mother and 3 siblings on the ship "Westminster" after his father passed away the year prior.

In 1850 Cephas resided with his brother Henry Mannering Clackett in Bushwick, Brooklyn.

He became a Naturalized Citizen on October 1st, 1856 in Staten Island, NY.

In 1860, he lived in Port Richmond, Staten Island.

He married Kate Berry of Staten Island circa 1860 and was a Carriage Maker in Hempstead, NY in 1870. Together they had two daughters Frances & Georgianna.

In 1869 Cephas Clackett was a Carriage Maker in Hempstead, NY and displayed his wares at the 28th Annual Exhibition for Farmers in Queens County near Jamaica through Sep 29th-Oct 1st, 1869 winning "Best Farm Wagon and Rack". Published in the Long Island Farmer on Dec. 16th of 1869.

Cephas shows up in the City Directory in Manhattan as a Carriage Maker in 1880 at 302 West 27th Street. He took out ads for his business for workers. That same year his youngest daughter Georgianna was living on Staten Island with his mother-in-law and sister-in law. Possibly his wife had already been sick at this time as she passed away at the end of 1885.

In 1892 he had ads taken out in local papers as a Carriage Maker in Jamaica.

Cephas passed away in 1906 at the age of 71.
