Tabitha Duncan, 88, a resident of the Silerville Community, died Saturday, October 29, at Scott County Hospital, Oneida, Tenn. She was born Feb. 3, 1878 at Winfield, Tenn and was a daughter of the late Jefferson Slaven and Barzilla Phillips Slaven. Survivors are five sons, Ale, Yule, Esery, Jefferson and James Duncan, and a daughter, Mrs. Floty Blevins. Her husband, Oliver Duncan, preceded her in death. Funeral services were conducted Monday at 2 p.m. at Kingtown with Rev. Ted Blevins officiating. Burial was in the Kingtown Cemetery. (McCreary Co. Record 1966)

She was married to OLIVER DUNCAN, and to this union was born 8 children, her husband and 4 children preceded her in death. She professed a hope in Christ at an early age, and joined the Old Otter Creek Church. She later took her membership to Second Otter Creek Church, where she remained a faithful Christian until death. Her prayers were always for her children and loved ones. She was a very devoted mother and grandmother. She leaves to mourn her passing, 6 Children, 5 Boys, EUEL SLAVEN, ALE DUNCAN and JAMES DUNCAN of Strunk, Ky., JEFFERSON DUNCAN of Winfield, Tenn., EZRA SLAVEN of Pine Knot, Ky.; 1 Daughter, FLODA BLEVINS of Cincinnati, Ohio; 61 grandchildren, 135 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren and a host of friends.
