Pleasant with brother Ambrose and Ambrose Carlton migrated from North Carolina in 1816 to Lawrence County, Indiana after "a short sojourn in Bono township."

Married Esther Carlton in 1814, daughter of Ambrose Carlton. Later he was married to Clarinda Hooks on Jun 6, 1838 and Sophronia Crooke on Feb 13, 1855.

Pleasant was elected to the Indiana House of Representatives two terms, and in early days was a Colonel of State Militia. Served in a variety of Civic functions.
Charter member of the Bedford Baptist Church.
