David was the son of Mary (Hall Laughlen) and Joseph Philips, who moved from Chester County to Allegheny County in the late 1700s. He married Psyche "Sichey" Hultz in 1807, and they had 13 children. David probably died in Upper St. Clair Township, Allegheny County.
