A. Barrett, an old citizen residing 10 miles southeast of Huntsville died very suddenly of paralysis recently.
Absolom enlisted in Company D of the 44th Missouri Infantry, Union Army, as a private on 21 August 1864 at Princeton, Missouri; he was discharged at St. Louis on 1 August 1865. He was wounded on 30 November 1864 at Franklin, Tennessee. He was issued a homestead certificate #4968 for 120 acres in Arkansas on 27 August 1889.
Absolom Barritt/Barrett married Lyvy Ann SMOTHERS (1831-1917) on 27 July 1847 in Mercer County, Missouri.
Several of Absolom & Lyvy's children who died young, are also said to be buried in the Cobb Cemetery, with only fieldstone markers.
