Mr. Burke was born in Marion, Ind., and had been a resident of the Gulf Coast for 30 years. He was a graduate of Marion High School, attended City College in San Francisco and was a graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi, where he received a bachelor of science degree in psychology. He was an Air Force veteran of Vietnam and was employed on the Alaskan Pipeline. He was a writer, sculptor and local artist. He served on the Board of Directors of ABC Collections, Inc., and was a Methodist.
Survivors include a son, Jason Aaron Burke of Kodiak, Alaska; his parents, Robert F. Burke Sr. and Mary Alice Burke of Marion; a sister, Nancy Ray of Venice, Fla.; and a brother, Robert F. Burke Jr. of Valrico, Fla.
A service will be at 9 a.m. today at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home in Gulfport where friends may call a half hour before service time. Burial will be in Biloxi National Cemetery.
