Clyde Pyper, 84, of Pleasant Grove has gone to join his beloved wife in eternity. He passed away peacefully at this home on February 12, 1999.
He will be greatly missed by his family. Clyde was born May 31, 1914 in Midway, Utah to James T. and Clarissa Van Wagoner Pyper. He was the eighth of 11 children and was a twin with his sister, Cloe. He married Majorie Casper on March 1, 1939 in the Salt Lake Temple. They had three children: Jane, Mark, and Jim. He worked very hard all is life. He served an LDS mission to the Southern States and later completed a tour of duty for the U. S. Navy during World War II. He was a dairy farmer and horse trainer. In 1957 they moved to Pleasant Grove and bought the Wasatch Cafe. He later worked for and retired from Metropolitan Water District. He enjoyed singing barbershop and performed with the Skyline Chorus and the Provokers Quartet.
He is survived by two sons: James William (Kelly) Pyper of Ferron, Utah and Mark Clyde (Shirley) Pyper of American Fork; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Marge and his daughter, Jane.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 17, 1999 at 11 a.m. in the Timpanogos Stake Center, 800 North 100 West, Pleasant Grove. Friends may call Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Olpin Family Mortuary, 494 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove and at the church on Tuesday one hour prior to services. Burial will be in the Midway City Cemetery.
