James Leonard Orr, 88, of Long Creek departed this life on March 18, 2009, with his family by his side.
Visitation and services will be held at the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church of which he was a long time member. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. till 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 21, 2009, with funeral services at 1:00 p.m. at the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church. Messages of condolence may be sent to the family at www.dawson-wikoff.com. Memorials may be made to the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Mt. Zion Cemetery. Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home Mt. Zion is assisting the family with services.
James was born November 20, 1920, in Dalton City, the son of William and Nina (Reese) Orr. He married Mildred Perryman on June 16, 1945. She preceded him in death on November 29, 1988. He had served his country proudly with the Navy during W.W.II and the Korean War. He retired from ADM having been a millwright.
Surviving is his son: James Ray Orr and his wife Nancy of Dalton City, two granddaughters: Tina Cooper of Dalton City and Teri Riggsby of Tuscola, three great-grandsons: Joshua Cooper, Joseph Cooper and Logan Riggsby.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife as well as nine brothers and sisters.
