Edward Joseph Thorpe is the son of Thomas Henry Thorpe and Mary A. Curley.

He married Effie Mary Scott on September 25, 1922, in Walpole, Cheshire County, New Hampshire.

E. J. Thorpe, Former Ball Player, Dies
KINDERHOOK
Edward J. Thorpe, a resident of the Melanson Home for Veterans on McCagg Rd., Kinderhook, died Wednesday at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Albany. He was 84.
He was a former minor league baseball player in Pittsfield and for a short time played with the major leagues.
Mr. Thorpe was born July 25, 1891 in Pittsfield, Mass. He was serving as a sergeant in the Army, and had served under George Pershing during World War I.
Funeral arrangements at the Bond Funeral Home, Valatie, are incomplete. Interment will be in Kinderhook Cemetery. /dc)

The 1900 census indicate he was born in Jul 1895. He lived with his parents in Holyoke, Hampden County, Massachusetts, at that time. His World War I Draft Registration gives his birth as July 28, 1895, Holyoke, Hampden County, Massachusetts.
