Jack was the son of John Lewes and Dorothy (Buchanan) Owens. He married (1) Nancy Jane Gibson and they had five children: Steve Jackson, James Lee, Miles Thomas, Gary Wayne and Janet Faye. He later married (2) Dorothy Tuck.

GALESTOWN, Md. - Jack Owens, of Galestown, died of heart failure Saturday, May 20, 2000, in his home. He was 74.
Mr. Owens was born in Whitter, N.C., the son of the late John Lewes and Dorothy Buchannon Owens.
He was a World War II Army veteran, serving as a sergeant in Europe, where he was awarded three battle stars, and two Purple Hearts.
He worked as a pipefitter for 35 years and retired in 1990 from Fluor Daniels Construction Co. Prior to that he worked out of Plumbers & Pipefitters Local 782 in Seaford, Del.
Mr. Owens was a life member of American Legion Nanticoke Post 6, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Virgil Wilson Post 4961, the Loyal Order of Moose in Seaford, and a federal game warden and police officer in North Carolina prior to becoming a pipefitter.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Tuck Owens; five sons, Steve Owens, of Bear, Del., James Owens, of Newark, Del., Gary Owens, of Georgetown, Del., Tom Owens and Clay Owens, both of Seaford; two daughters, Janet Owens Profili, of Seaford, and Sally Brumfield of Bridgeville; 14 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Watson-Yates Funeral Home, Front and King streets, Seaford, where Chaplain Richard Drummond will officiate.
Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Blades Cemetery, Blades, Del.
