He married Sarah Elizabeth Flowers about 1878. The obituary for Sarah Elizabeth Flowers notes that upon the death of her father, she relocated to Rowlett, Texas, where she married Joseph Ely Doss. Rowlett is split between Dallas County and Rockwall County, however, and the actual county they married in is currently unknown.

He was a Farm Laborer in the years following his marriage.

He appears on the 1900 Draco, Wise County, Texas Census with his wife, noting that they had been married for 22 years, along with four of their children, Edward Mancell, Thomas Jefferson, James Oliver and Felix Martin.

He appears on the 1910 Wilbarger County, Texas Census with his wife, Sarah and three of their children, William, Felix and Virgil in Wilbarger County, Texas.

He appears on the 1920 Bridgeport, Wise County, Texas Census with his wife and their son, Virgil.

He passed away on March 20th, 1923 in Bridgeport, Wise County, Texas.
